Ignatian Leadership Programme – 2 held at FRH

Karnataka Jesuit Youth Ministry held a training programme for youth in Ignatian Leadership at Fathima Retreat House (FRH), Mangaluru on January 27-28. The main objective of this training programme was to train young youth in Ignatian principles to spread Jesuit values wherever they are so that there is deeper reflection into life to make right choices in life. These trained students will be animating youth along with the youth coordinators wherever there is need.

Fr Anil D’Mello SJ, superior of FRH, inaugurated the programme with his keynote address. He welcomed all the 55 participants to FRH and wished them to be committed Ignatian leaders in the coming days.

The two-day programme was planned with topics such as Jesuit charism and our way of proceeding, personality and its types, time and habit management, NLP skills, leadership skills, IPP and Jesuit leadership. There were a lot of activities to internalise the skills and practice them in their respective institutions. Frs, Melwin Pinto, Ronald Pais, Maxim Dias, Joyson Vas, Rupesh Madtha (Mangalore Diocese), Ms Viola Lewis and Ms Farita Veigas were the resource persons.

At the end of this two days training programme, all the students were given the certificate and declared as Jesuit Leaders. Fr Alphonse Fernandes SJ, Principal, Loyola Degree College, Bannerghatta, Bangalore, along with the youth directors of the province gave away the certificates. Respective institutions will be following up with these chosen leaders and they will be entrusted to organise different programmes. Since the youth commission will be having this training programme thrice a year, many young Ignatian leaders will be born in the near future.
