Fatima Retreat House

Fatima Retreat House was established in 1950 on land generously donated by a prominent Catholic of Mangalore, Mr. James Britto. Its foundation was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Fr. Adrien Le Tellier, SJ, a Belgian Jesuit renowned for his tireless zeal in directing Ignatian retreats and promoting the establishment of retreat centres.

The Retreat House was envisioned as a space for closed retreats and recollections, fostering an atmosphere of solitude, prayer, and silence. In 1954, it was placed under the patronage of Our Lady of Fatima and was formally named the Fatima Retreat House.

Rooted in the rich spiritual tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Retreat House offers Ignatian retreats that help individuals deepen their relationship with God through prayer, reflection on Scripture, discernment, and personal accompaniment.

These retreats—both individually directed and group-based—invite participants to encounter God in the quiet of their hearts and in the movements of daily life.

Over the years, the Retreat House has grown into a vibrant centre for retreats, spiritual seminars, and allied ministries. In addition to retreat programmes, counselling and spiritual guidance are made available to individuals and families seeking clarity, healing, and support in their personal and faith journeys.

Today, as a place of prayer administered by the Jesuits of Karnataka, it welcomes people from all walks of life who seek moments of quiet reflection, discernment, and spiritual renewal.

The Prarthanalaya Chapel remains open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for visits to the Blessed Sacrament. Residential facilities are available for those participating in closed retreats and seminars.
