Named after St. Aloysius Gonzaga, the patron saint of youth, the institution adopted the motto “Lucet et Ardet” meaning “Shine to Enkindle.” For over a century, this motto has inspired generations of students to become “men and women for and with others” through lives of service, leadership, and integrity.

Historically, St. Aloysius played a pioneering role in expanding higher education in the coastal Karnataka region.
