Mount St. Joseph (Novitiate), Bengaluru

Mount St. Joseph Novitiate, Bengaluru is the Novitiate of the Karnataka Jesuit Province, where young men formally begin their life in the Society of Jesus. The two-year novitiate is a sacred time of spiritual formation, discernment, and personal transformation, during which novices are introduced to the spirituality, traditions, and way of life of the Jesuits.

Rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the novitiate helps novices deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, reflection, spiritual direction, and community living. The formation programme includes apostolic experiences, service among the poor and marginalized, pilgrimages, and various "experiments" that enable novices to grow in self-awareness, generosity, and availability for mission.

At Mount St. Joseph, novices learn to embrace the Jesuit values of discernment, simplicity, companionship, and service. Through a balanced programme of spiritual, human, and apostolic formation, they are prepared to make an informed and generous commitment to Jesuit life. The novitiate culminates in the profession of First Vows, marking their formal incorporation into the Society of Jesus and the beginning of their journey as companions of Jesus in mission.
