On : 2026-10-10
The Karnataka Jesuit Province rejoiced in a moment of grace and thanksgiving as three Jesuit deacons, Fr Arun Lobo SJ, Fr Cannon Fernandes SJ, and Fr Santhosh Kumar SJ, were ordained priests on 10 October 2026 at St Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Bangalore.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of the Diocese of Mysore. Jesuits, clergy, religious, family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered to witness and celebrate this significant milestone in the lives of the newly ordained priests.
The theme of the Eucharistic celebration, “Hearts that Love, Hands that Serve,” captured the spirit of priestly ministry—a vocation rooted in love, expressed through service, and sustained by faith. The ordination marked the culmination of years of formation, prayer, study, and discernment, and the beginning of a new chapter in their journey of priestly service.
In his homily, Bishop Francis invited the newly ordained priests to serve the Church and society with faith, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to justice, particularly in solidarity with the poor and the marginalised. He encouraged them to find God in all things and to serve others with generosity, humility, and love, following the example of Christ.
The Karnataka Jesuit Province offers its heartfelt congratulations to the newly ordained priests and expresses its gratitude to their families, formators, and all those who accompanied them on their vocational journey. May the Lord bless their priestly ministry and strengthen them in their commitment to being men for and with others, working for the greater glory of God.
