Loyola Day 2022 was held on November 20 at Loyola Prenovitiate, Mangalore. The day began with a Eucharist presided over by Fr Chetan Lobo OFM. In his homily he enumerated the qualities of Christ the King. He contextualised the theme with the present socio-political situation of our country. “We need to imbibe the values of Christ the King. It is all about sharing and caring and ultimately emptying oneself in the service of others,” he said.

A short cultural programme was held to exhibit the talents and skills of the prenovices. Mr Ashok Pinto, Vice President of Bejai Pastoral Parishad was the chief guest and Fr Cyril D’Mello SJ, the secretary of Mangalore Jesuit Education Society presided over the programme.

In his speech Mr Ashok Pinto emphasised the importance of gospel values in our families and how we must promote vocations to priesthood in our families. “We need good priests for which we need good family values. And only then we can speak about good vocations,” he said.

In his presidential address, Fr Cyril DMello invited everyone to seek goodness present in everyone. He thanked the parents of the prenovices for their generosity and for offering their sons to the Society of Jesus.

The cultural programme comprised of dances and a motivational and thought-provoking play titled ‘Hucharu Nava Niva?’ It was directed by Christopher Ninasam.

Sch Royster Monis welcomed the gathering and Fr Anush D’Cunha proposed the vote of thanks. The twin brothers Arvin D’Mello and Shervin D’Mello compered the programme.

Earlier, Fr Alwyn Dsouza SJ, Fr Cyprian OFM Cap, Fr Peter Pinto SJ and Fr Anush D’Cunha SJ concelebrated the Eucharist.
